BOGIE, Yellow Collar Macaw, Hatch
Date is 7/11/01. Bogie talks with a
slight lisp due to a cleft pallet but his playfulness and personality certainly
make up for it He knows how to shake hands
and to use his other foot for stepping up.
He loves to hang upside down and be carried like a baby. His favorite time is bath time.
DUDLEY, Nanday Conure.
Hatch Date is 1/29/00. Dudley is
a very friendly bird with people he knows.
He loves attention, tearing up Kleenex boxes and snuggling with Nacho. He is a funny bird, making everyone laugh
with his antics. Nanday conures are
very loud and noisy and we don't recommend them to people with small children.
They tend to bond with one person only and it is usually an adult.
ELVIS, Blue Fronted Amazon, Hatch
Date is 7/4/00. Elvis is a very
intelligent bird. His vocabulary
consists mostly of Elvis sayings, including “I’m just a hunka hunka burning
love”, “Hello Ladies, It’s good to be King”, he also barks like a dog and then
says “Who…who let the dog out?” Elvis
is not shy at all and will step up for most people. He is very fun loving and likes to be the center of
attention. Understandably called the
“Party Animal” of the parrot kingdom.
NACHO, Jenday Conure. Hatch
Date is 7/23/00. Nacho was a very sick
bird when she was 6 months old. She
spent time in the UW Vet. Med. School hospital in an incubator. We weren’t sure she would make it, but to
our delight she is just fine. She
doesn’t trust many people due to her early trauma but she is a real cutie that
loves to sing & dance. She says
“Mamma” and that is about the limit for her speech. Jenday conures are very loud and noisy and we don't recommend them to
people with small children. They tend to bond with one person only and it is
usually an adult.
GILDA, Umbrella Cockatoo. Hatch
Date 4/24/02. Gilda loves to cuddle
(big surprise for any of you Cockatoo owners out there). She is a very affectionate bird. She is learning to roller skate and play
basketball in her spare time. Gilda is
the spokes bird for our sanctuary.
This
fine feathered friend is Mickey. Mickey is an African Grey parrot and very
intelligent. He loves to sing and whistle and his vocabulary is wonderful.
Mickey is 13 years old and he is a permanent resident of our Sanctuary.
Quasimoto
(Quasi) is a female Goffin's Cockatoo, 2 yrs old. Quasi was born with a neck
deformity and cannot hold her head in the up right position. She is very sweet
and loving and a joy to have around. She makes me smile while watching her
play. Even though she has a deformity, you would never know it to see her
playing and walking around. The crook stands out and her head is always
pointing towards the floor but it doesn't slow her down a bit. Due to the
problem with her neck she needs to be hand fed formula on a daily basis. Quasi
is a permanent resident at our sanctuary and we are very thankful to have her.
Quasy's hatch date is 12-10-00
This
is Tiko, an 8 year old Blue & Gold Macaw. Tiko is very talkative and
funny. She is also very loud. She waves bye bye and loves to
dance. Tiko has become a wonderful bird.
She loves to cuddle and gives kisses freely. She is still loud but very very loveable and that is more
important.
Tiko’s hatch date is 4/1/89. making her 14 yrs old
in April of this year.
JADE is an Illigers Macaw, 10 yrs old.
Jade is very shy but has taken a liking to Bogie. They are now cage mates. This is Jade’s 3rd and last home. Jade
& Bogie have bonded and are sharing their cages.
